tips to make your visitors come back

Here are some tips
to make your visitors come back day after day, week after week, month after
month.
- Make design
that is easy to navigate, but it must still be attractive to the eye. New
media, such as Flash4, makes this possible. You could add a dHTML ticker or
a Flash4 animation, but you could also make an entire site with it.
- Don't push
to many text and/or images into one page. Visitors will not wait 20 seconds
before they can finally see the page. You can add some graphics, but be sure
to compress them as a JPG or a GIF.
- Check your
spelling! If there is one thing you really have to pay attention to is your
spelling. If you don't check it and there are mistakes, visitors will get
confused and the chance is big that they won't understand it and leave.
- Check your
links! Broken links are very confusing. It will make visitors leave because
if they click on a link, they are interested. If they don't get what they
wanted, they will immediately leave the site and browse to another site.
- Add a mailing
list to your site. You can send than messages about updates or something else
to your subscribers and they will visit your site (again) if they have seen
something that they find interesting.
- Get a short
url or a domain. People just hate to type names such as http://www.provider.com/community/street/hello.html.
At cjb.net you can get a free redirection url with email and some more features.
- Add some interactivity!
Give your visitors the chance to send their comments, critiques or questions
to you. This way, you can make a site that is "made" by the visitors. And
if they like it they come back!
- Update your
site daily, or at least once a week. Visitors will know than that the information
they get is "fresh" and will check back later to see what's new.
- Add an email
service to your site. Members will have to come to your site to log into their
account. You can do this easily if you have your own domain (BigMailBox, Everyone.net),
but it is also possible if you don't (ZZN).
- Last but not
least: if you're searching for web space or a domain host, first contact people
who have experience with it. They can tell you which service is reliable and
has fast servers. If you're site is regularly unavailable, some people might
think it doesn't exist anymore. With these things you will come far! Not only
they make your site better, they bring you visitors!
